Job Summary
  • Supervise assigned staff of Coordinators and/or Specialists to include scheduling shifts and vacations and coordinating the flow of work.
  • Conduct performance reviews; assist with interviews, hiring and training & developing personnel. Ensure application of all departmental and company policies and procedures. Provide leadership and guidance; act as a resource for staff members.
  • Continually assess Estes Air Service capabilities and cost considerations in order to creatively service individual customer shipments and capabilities both in service and yield with a continual goal of 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Create and maintain strong, positive working relationship with Coordinators and Specialists, internal customers, external consumers and all service providers.
  • Review, evaluate and address service and cost issues on a day to day basis by formulating corrective measures to both eliminate issues and/or maximize opportunities from both single shipments and consolidations
  • Monitor and manage shipment forwardings within area of responsibility to ensure most current information is available and complete including status updates, costing, charges, trace notes, service failures as well as customer and consumer follow-up.
  • Review service provider failures on daily basis and ensure service failure reporting is complete and communicated to appropriate service provider for cost reduction or cost elimination.
  • Expeditiously respond to any consumer issues or questions as required that fall beyond the ability or knowledge of assigned Coordinators and Specialists.
  • Ensure comprehensive compliance with all TSA, DOT and US Customs & Border Protection regulations and communicate any changes or revisions to staff while maintaining records to reflect the same.
  • Ensure all certifications of assigned Coordinators and Specialists are current and on file including TSA Certification for the Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program and Dangerous Goods (as appropriate) as well as communicating all changes and revisions impacting operational readiness status.
  • Aggressively pursue and ensure 100% compliance with all TSA regulations regarding the Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program and Shipper’s Security Endorsements.
  • Manage document flow of all transportation service providers and appropriate TSA documents.
  • Assist the Manager(s) in the development and continuing refinement of a network of domestic and international service providers.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and various shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High level of international air and/or ocean forwarding knowledge. Proven track record of carrier and vendor acquisition and management. Ability to coordinate international services with off shore agents and agent networks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business or Logistics or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3- 5 years experience in transportation, logistics or a related business or activity with a clear understanding of multiple modes and service within the transportation/logistics industry. Experience in air freight forwarding operations a plus.
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving, quantitative analysis, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to clearly convey short and long-term defined goals.
  • Proficient understanding of PC and mainframe computer applications including the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure complete customer satisfaction and create repeat business opportunities while operating
  • Must be able to be on call 24 hours and work flexible shifts including nights and weekends as required.
  • 2 years experience supervising small teams in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience utilizing performance measurement systems to improve productivity.
